Day Walk Specials - Autumn 2021
Almost three decades ago I guided my first day walk and by popular demand they're back for a limited time.
This is the best way to discover the real Mallorca.
Cost includes Transport and Guiding.
September 21st : KARST VALLEY 11 Km Grade C+ 35€
Dramatic weathered limestone surrounds the monastery of Lluc and old paths from rural industries such as charcoal, lime and snow collection guide us through stunning scenery. Most of the walking is on forest tracks with some stony parts. Day starts with pick up 09.30 and arrive back 16.30 approx.
September 23rd : PENYAL D'HONOR 13 Km Grade B 37€
On the flanks of the Tramuntana mountains lies the attractive village of Bunyola. The route follows a fantastic cliff side path that climbs to the blue Mallorcan sky with Red Kites swooping above. Our destination is a spectacular 819 metre vantage point with sweeping views as far as the eye can see. Undulating rocky mountain paths. Day starts with pick up at 08.45 and arrive back 17.15 approx.
September 26th : PILGRIM STEPS 14 Km Grade C+ 42€
The path was built to connect the west with the religious heartbeat of the island at Lluc, but we make the pilgrimage in reverse from high up at Cuber reservoir to the pub down in Soller square. The scenery throughout is extra special and the walk is a must for anyone coming to discover the island on foot. Cobbled paths and forest trails guide us along this famous route. Day starts with pick up at 08.30 and arrive back 18.00 approx.
October 5th : CASTELL D'ALARO 10Km Grade C+ 37€
This was the first day walk I ever guided back in the 90's and the combination of spectacular scenery, for not a great deal of effort and historic interest still make this one of the island best excursions. The distinct reddened rock colour is said to be a gruesome reminder of all the bloodshed fighting for this prized hilltop fortress. We start the walk up to the Moorish castle from the idyllic Orient valley and later drop down the other side of the hill to get a well earned drink in Alaro town. The route uses forest track and cobbled mountain path. We are picked up at 09.30 to start the day and arrive back 17.15 approx
October 7th : SES BARQUES - TUENT 12Km Grade C+ 42€
The iconic view point at Ses Barques watches over the Soller valley and immediately lets you know today's walk is going to be something special. Along the journey north we experience the Balitx valley, making a stop at the farm for refreshment, before heading out onto a magic carpet of a path that used to give access to the hydro electric power station of Sa Costera. The path rises and falls throughout the day, but the rewarding scenery at every turn makes the stony path that much easier. We are picked up to start the day at 08.30 and arrive back 18.15 approx.
October 15th : FORMENTOR LIGHTHOUSE 12 Km Grade B+ 42€
The Formentor peninsula has had a light to guide shipping since 1863 and before the access road was built they needed a stone pathway to get to the most northerly corner of Mallorca. Walking in their footsteps, our route travels the section from the aquamarine colours of Cala Figuera to the islands end along a stony, but spectacular piece of engineering. We are picked up 08.45 and arrive back 16.30 approx
Grading System : All C+ walks travel along well made tracks and paths and those in reasonable shape will have no problem and most can be done in trainers, although boots are always recommended for ankle support on rocky ground if you have them? B walks are for people used to hill and mountain walking and boots are a must.
For all excursions you need to bring a picnic / water and wear suitable footwear and some offer the chance to swim.
What’s included : Tour price includes guide / transport and pick up.
